Toyota Worthless Warrantee Conclusion

The final report on the Toyota Worthless Warrantee story. I was comparing two makes of rotor fitted to the same vehicle doing the same job and comparing the difference in wear. This result proves that the second rotor, an aftermarket offering, is far better quality than OE, or the original OE was faulty. If the original was not faulty, then I must conclude that the OE is extremely poor quality. Is there another conclusion?

  1. I used to work in the parts department of a Porsche dealership in the 80s. It was a time when Porsche were beginning to introduce new models 944 928 etc and the fascinating thing was that the workshop was an ever evolving beast. on one side of the workshop you would have an engineer rebuilding a 911 turbo engine to FIA Spec for saloon car racing and on the other side you would have a technician plugging into en ECU to " diagnose " the fault and decide which part needed replacing. The Difference ?
Engineer and Technician. Why does that matter you may ask, Well one does a very long apprenticeship and gets paid not for what he does but what he knows and the other gets paid for what he does, and the difference in pay is quite alot. Manufacturers came to the conclusion, like a lot of industries, white goods tv consumer electronics that in the long run it is cheaper for them to just replace components rather than diagnose the problem with the component and repair it. The other argument that manufacturers will throw up is that they now allow you to replace components via a non franchised dealer and not affect the warranty as no real "knowledge" is required.
    Anyway thats my rant over
